A Must Try: Stella

The first time I ‘heard’ of the newly opened restaurant Stella – still on soft opening as of writing – it was on a deluge of Facebook posts from colleagues and acquaintances. It led me to ask – what is this new restaurant and why are people posting about it on Facebook? From the name ‘Stella’, I could not decipher what the cuisine is. Of course, I can look it up on Facebook but I was not able to. And finally, I had the chance to dine there.

Nestled inside Greenfields along Diversion Road in Mandurriao and on the ground floor of where Anytime Fitness is located, Stella is a cozy restaurant that serves ‘traditional Filipino food of the modern Filipino’. Serving classic Filipino food, Stella pairs the Filipino-themed cuisine with unique wooden interiors and a tropical themed wall painting.

“Stella has a modern look and ambiance but they retain the traditional Filipino feel and cooking. Great service and nice people,” says Algene, a resident of Iloilo City. Nicolea, also one of the first to dine at Stella, says “Put my baked scallops craving to an end and some mangga mojito. But the ube brazos though, the best!”

Must try dishes include the following: baked scallops, bay-ad, adobado nga pantat, linatik nga kalabasa, ginisa nga monggo, adobo nga manok sa gata, sinugba nga baboy, and buttered shrimp. Dined there twice and so far friends and colleagues are in love with the place. Store hours are from 11am to 2pm for lunch and 5pm to 9pm for dinner and the bar opens at 9pm and closes 12mn. Come and visit Stella at Greenfields along Diversion Road in Mandurriao.
