Sought after Malaysian book fair, Big Bad Wolf, swung by Iloilo last August 20th. In a viral Facebook post, it showed the Big Bad Wolf team in the City of Love, with the Iloilo Convention Center at the back. Apparently, team ICON of the Iloilo Convention Center welcomed the BBW Team at the airport and to Iloilo’s iconic convention center.
With the caption, ‘this is what your views, shares, likes, and comments have made possible’, Iloilo Convention Center lauds Ilonggos for making the BBW visit in Iloilo possible. The page also posted, ‘let’s continue giving Big Bad Wolf more reasons to come to Iloilo’, urging Ilonggos to continue supporting the book fair brand. The Iloilo team also followed the Big Bad Wolf fair in Cebu.
Big Bad Wolf, also known as The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale and BBW Books, is a Malaysian book fair frequently held in various venues in Southeast Asia – Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Thailand – and even in the Middle East. Books are majorly taken from BookXcess, a bookstore dealing with remaindered books from international distributors. The idea was by BookXcess founders Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng. The first book sale was held in May 2009 in Datarang Hamodal, Petaling Jaya in Malaysia.
In the Philippines, meanwhile, the first book fair was held in 2018, at the World Trade Center in Metro Manila followed by the IEC Convention Center in Cebu City. Another book fair was held in Cebu in 2019. Will Iloilo be next?
The book fair sells a variety of books of different genres: fiction, non-fiction, novels, literature, as well as merchandise including collectible books, posters, wallpapers, movie posters, and BBW merchandise.
