Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treňas is looking forward to a more beautiful Iloilo. Just recently, the mayor announced that City Environment and Natural Resources Office Head Engr. Noel Hechanova has turned over a water tanker to Ninda Atinado of the Beautification Team.
“Our plants that beautify our roads and areas around the city need to be watered for them and not wither. We are also planning to trim excess twigs for our greeneries to appear neat,” stated by the mayor in a post. “Sa Disyember, napangtamnan na ina tanan kag mas matahum na gid kag manaya-naya ang aton siyudad”, he adds.
It can also be recalled that the mayor has implemented a road clearing operation as mandated by President Rodrigo Duterte and the Department of the Interior and Local Government. The movement aims to ‘give back public areas to the people’. Treňas was also elated to announce that the city acquired an 83% rating on road clearing operations.
“This initiative aims to give back public areas to the people, and with that, we will do our best to accomplish the 100% compliance, as we continue to work with road clearing operations,” the mayor shared in a Facebook post.
Also, in another post, the mayor shared some insights on the fourth phase of the roadmap, W.H.E.E.L.S. for inclusive development. W.H.E.E.L.S. stand for welfare, health and sanitation, education, environmental management, livelihood, and sustainability. The fourth letter, environmental management, emphasizes on rehabiliation, conservation, protection of rivers, coastal and marine resources. The movement also focuses on closer engagements with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Land Transportation Office, Department of Health, the Academe, and other stakeholders for Waste to Energy Programs. Last but not least, it also highlights the improvement of all plazas and esplanades.
