Convert Garbage to Cash in GT Town Center Pavia

‘Garbage to Treasure’ was recently launched by GT Town Center in Pavia, in partnership with Property Company of Friends and Justine Scrap, at the GT Town Center Mall. ‘Garbage to Treasure’ is the brainchild of Allan Ryan Tan, Vice President for Real Estate and Land Development, GT Town Center. Tan is a known advocate for environmental preservation through proper waste management.

“I am geared towards the preservation of the environment ever since. I always practice waste segregation. In fact, I built my own compost pit at home. With the global environmental problem that we are facing at the present, I think it is high time that we involve the community. We are piloting this initiative by partnering with ProFriends which is the closest community to our mall. Withi this, we hope to encourage the homeowners of Parc Regency Residences and Monticello Villas and eventually influence the community to practice proper waste disposal,” states Allan Ryan Tan, Vice President for Real Estate and Land Development, GT Town Center.

‘Garbage to Treasure’ is an opportunity for everyone to convert garbage to money by simply surrendering waste to GT Town Center Pavia every other Saturday. Recyclable materials include paper, empty bottles, scrap iron, tin cans, GI sheets, aluminum, copper, batteries, pet bottles, plastic containers, and cellophane. These items can be sold per kilo, and price depends on the kind of item. Also, it is advised that trash is segregated prior bringing it to the venue.

Price Range of Recyclable Items:

— Paper, Php 0.5 to Php 6 / kg
— Plastic, Php 1.5 to Php 14 / kg
— Metal, Php 6 to Php 10 / kg
— Special Metal, Php 34 to Php 200 / kg
— Batteries, Php 25 to Php 1,300 / kg

Aside from GT Town Center Pavia and ProFriends, a partnership was also formed with the local government of Pavia and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in a bid to intensify the project.

“This initiative will truly benefit not just our homeowners at Parc Regency Residences and Monticello Villas, but the Ilonggo community as a whole. As we build homes and accessible communities for the Ilonggos, it is also part of our responsibility to protect the environment,” states Jerome Garcia, Strategic Marketing Brand Manager of Property Company of Friends, ProFriends.

Apart from the ‘Garbage to Treasure’ initiative, GT Town Center Pavia also prides on its other environmental projects such as its pipeline and it’s ‘green town’ project. The mall also installed solar panels and holds a regular ‘Sunday Market’ for local farmer entrepreneurs.
