Atty Joshua Alim Elected CPU Alumni President: Former Iloilo City Councilor Atty Joshua Alim was recently elected President of the Central Philippine University Alumni Association, Inc.Together with Alim are the following officers: Dr. Florentina Alerta III as Vice President, Rev Francis Neil Jalando-on as Secretary, Engr Rey Balogo as Treasurer, and Atty Noel Siosan. The elected officers will start their term in January 2020.
It can be recalled that the university just recently celebrated the ceremonial switching on of Christmas lights and fireworks display last December 6.
“Continuing the passion in my private capacity. I may be captain of the ship, but the support and cooperation of the crew are indispensable for the ship to reach its destination safely,” states Atty Joshua Alim in his Facebook post.
Prior his election as alumni president, Alim invested his time in public service. Atty. Alim was former chairman of the Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force (ICAST) from 2010 to 2015. Under his Chairmanship, Iloilo City was awarded Hall of Famer on Anti-Tobacco Advocacy. Atty. Alim is also the author of the Amended Iloilo City Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance. Aid for the poor is also at the core of Atty. Alim’s strong commitment to public service. He authored an Ordinance creating the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (ICUPAO), an office that attends to the needs and problems of the Urban Poor sector of Iloilo City. All in all, Alim has passed and authored 56 ordinances, 3,210 resolutions, and delivered 67 privileged speeches as of 2018.
Currently a private citizen, Alim still pursues public service through his private law firm. He also provides legal advice through his Youtube channel, Atty Joshua Alim.
