According to Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., the Iloilo Airport may reopen on June 16, tentatively, as the modified general community quarantine comes to an end. Moreover, Defensor adds that commercial flights may resume given that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases gave local government units the authority to decide whether to reopen their airports or not.
“As of now, we don’t expect any tourists,” states Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. However, should commercial flights resume, it would be to facilitate the return of stranded Ilonggo Overseas Filipino Workers.
Moreover, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippine (CAAP) Iloilo Terminal Supervisor Art Parreño, he is still not sure if commercial flights will resume at the Iloilo Airport (in an article by Panay News). However Parreño notes that, prior to the lockdown, the Iloilo Airport is servicing up to 25 arrival and departure flights daily.
