Known as ‘NuLab’, this mobile science learning facility has been recently launched by the Department of Science and Technology and will be the highlight in the upcoming 2019 Regional Science and Technology Week’s Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit, from October 21 to 25 in the City of Love. The event is themed ‘Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development’.
The mobile facility ‘Nulab’ was launched last July at the World Trade Center during the 2019 National Science and Technology Week. It is the second mobile science learning facility following the ‘Science Explorer’ which has served a number of elementary and high school students in different areas in the country. As of date, Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute Director Dr. Josette Biyo is hopeful that ‘Nulab’ will be as successful as its predecessor.
The NuLab science bus is open for students and will feature science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning modules inside. It will also offer interesting learning topics such as nanotechnology, aerospace engineering, nuclear science, earthquake risk analysis, science media literacy, programming, oceanography, robotics, entomology, and environmental science.
The weeklong celebration is part of the Iloilo Innovation Expo 2019 and will include activities such as the Iloilo Innovation Summit, Iloilo-vation Business Matching and Investment Forum, Iloilo Federation for Information and Technology Job Fair, and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines ICT Summit, to mention a few.
