The Department of Tourism Region VI spearheaded by Regional Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas launched a series of projects and campaigns aimed to boost local tourism, preferably in the Western Visayas. It includes the following: Launching of the Bring Home a Friend (BHAF) Project, Launching of DOT VI Branding Campaign, Soft Launching of the United Western Visayas Song, and celebration of Month of Overseas Filipinos and International Migrants Day.
The event was held at Cinema 6 of SM City Iloilo and joined by the Department of Tourism and students from various universities in Iloilo. The program featured performances from 2live Crew, Hon. Dante Beriong, and Tumandok Crew (Grand Champion of Experience Western Visayas First Hiligaynon Rap Song Writing Competition).
Bring Home a Friend (BHAF) to the Philippines Project. In a bid to boost local tourism, the BHAF project encourages each and every local to be ambassadors of goodwill to foreign friends. By inviting a friend, the inviter or ‘sponsor’ gets a chance to win prizes from the tourism body. Prizes include a Php 200,000 shopping spree from Duty-Free, a brand new Toyota Vios car, or a Megaworld condominium. Here are the mechanics for the Bring Home a Friend (BHAF) project. It comes in four (4) simple steps: Invite, Accept, Travel, and Register
Step 1: Invite — The project is open to all Filipinos or expatriates living in the Philippines or temporarily for six (6) months and of legal age. Simply invite a be a ‘sponsor’. Log on to the official website www.bringhomeafriend.online and invite as many friends as you like.
Step 2: Accept — Any foreign passport holder who is not a resident of the Philippines and who will accept the invitation from a ‘sponsor’ and will travel to the Philippines will qualify as an ‘invitee’. Invitees must be living abroad for a minimum of six months prior to the event.
Step 3: Travel — No travel, no electronic entries. Remember, your invitee must travel to the Philippines within the specified period in order to qualify for the promo.
Step 4: Register — After the travel is completed, the invitee should complete the registration process. They will be requested to upload travel documents such as their ticket and boarding pass. After successful registration, invitees will receive a notification along with an electronic coupon, this number of which will depend on the invitee’s point of origin. One (1) entry for Asia, two (2) entries for Middle East and Australia/Oceania, three (3) entries for Africa and Europe, and three (3) entries for North and South America.
Selection and announcement of winners — The grand draw will be held in April 2018. Winners will be selected through electronic raffle draw. All winners will be notified via email and SMS. The list of winners will also be posted on the DOT website and social media accounts. In order to claim prizes:
1. Invitees must submit the following documents for the verification of the winning entry: Notification from DOT, photocopy of one (1) valid, government-issued ID, photocopy of passport
2. Sponsors must submit the following documents for the verification of the winning entry: Notification from DOT, photocopy of two (2) valid, government-issued Ids. (Note: Sponsors may claim their prizes only after his/her invitee has been contacted and the date of his/her arrival to the Philippines has been verified.)
