In a single day, the Department of Health reported ten (10) new cases of Covid-19 aside from the four (4) new confirmed cases as of yesterday. This brings the total to twenty (20) confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country. The results of the new confirmed cases came in today after samples were collected last March 6, 7, and 8.
To date, the Epidemiology Bureau (EB) of the Department of Health is conducting comprehensive contact tracing and is in coordination with Local Government Units and Centers for Health Development.
“DOH has deployed additional surveillance teams to expedite contact tracing of the new cases. Rest assured that DOH is maximizing all channels, including coordinating with the Philippine National Police, other stakeholders and government agencies, to immediately identify, and isolate if needed, those who may have had contact with the confirmed cases,” states Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III.
By far, the agency has revealed the whereabouts of the confirmed cases. This includes Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center-Taguig, St. Luke’s Medical Center-QC, The Medical City, UniHealth Paranaque Hospital, Tricity Medical Center, and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
“In light of the new confirmed cases, we reiterate that the best way to prevent getting infected is to practice personal preventive measures such as proper hand hygiene, social distancing, and cough etiquette. As much as possible let us also refrain from visiting public places and/or attending mass gatherings. We should continue to be vigilant, and I call on everyone to cooperate with DOH for us to hurdle through this crisis together,” adds the Health Chief.
