The Department of Health reveals that it is now capable of conducting 11,000 tests for coronavirus per day. According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, this is a sustained increase from the 6,634 tests conducted three days ago.
“Last week, we averaged 9,600 tests per day with a high of 11,127,” states Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, in an article by the Inquirer. To date, the agency has tested over 207,000 individuals for Coronavirus and conducted more than 220,000 tests. The agency also aims to conduct at least 30,000 tests in a day by the end of May to get a ‘good picture’ of the pandemic. By far, there are 29 laboratories in the country.
In the latest case bulletin by DOH as of 4PM today, May 18, 2020, DOH reported 205 new cases (PH12514-PH12718) of COVID-19. NCR with an additional 145 new cases, Region 7 with 8 additional new cases, and 52 new cases from different Regions. The total number of cases in the country is now at 12,718. The agency also announced 94 new recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 2,729.
