Just recently, the Department of Health launched a dedicated webpage solely for updates regarding the Novel Coronavirus. The page will provide updates and DOH urges the public to stay updated by following the page that may be accessed at https://www.doh.gov.ph/2019-nCoV.
In an update dated January 28 as of 5pm, the Department of Health released a ‘2019 nCoV Situational Report’. The report revealed that the Department of Health has recorded 27 persons under investigation, 3 of which has been discharged leaving a current total of 24 persons under investigation – 18 in the National Capital Region, 1 in Western Visayas, 1 in Eastern Visayas, 2 in Central Visayas, and 1 in Northern Mindanao.
The report also revealed that there are zero confirmed cases.
The Department of Health confirmed that hospitals are equipped and are following strict infection protocols to manage persons under investigation and the Bureau of Quarantine has also strengthened border patrol, monitoring travelers not just from Wuhan but also from Hubei Province in China.
Meanwhile, the general public is advised to remain calm but vigilant. To always practice hand hygiene, observe proper cough etiquette – maintain distance and cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the crook of the elbow – avoid close contact with people manifesting flu-like symptoms, avoid contact with farm and wild animals, to cook food properly, and adopt healthy lifestyles to mount immunity against infections.
