Just recently, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6 released a total of Php 6,276,550.00 to the Iloilo City Government for its ‘Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers’ (TUPAD) Program.
DOLE 6 Director Cyril Ticao personally handed the check to Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas last June 24 at the Iloilo City Hall. The TUPAD program is seen as an intervention measure to aid the informal sectors in a bid to mitigate the impact of COVID.
“Makabulig gid ini sang daku sa aton mga pumuluyo diri sa syudad, subong nga naga-atubang kita sang daku nga krisis bangud sa COVID-19 (This will greatly help our residents here in the city, now that we are facing a big crisis due to COVID-19),” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry, in an article by the Philippine Information Agency.
By far, the government has identified 1,589 beneficiaries.
