Drunk Driver Kills Frontliner Week After Lifting of Liquor Ban

About a week after the lifting of the liquor ban, a drunk driver killed a frontliner and injured three others in Mandurriao last Sunday (May 24). The drunk driver was identified as Harjinder Gill, a 44-year-old Indian National.

The victim was identified as Henry Jun Jardio, 30, a radiologic technologist on his way home from his hospital duty. Jardio was also former personnel of the Iloilo City Emergency Responders (ICER). Among those injured in the road mishap were John Tupaz, Jane Ricforte, and Bon Sean Sanz.

Traffic Investigator Police Staff Sergeant Jessie Cabial, in an article by Manila Bulletin, describes the incident: Jardio was onboard his motorcycle when he was hit by a speeding car driven by Gill. The police sergeant reveals that Jardio was wearing a helmet but the impact was too strong.

After hitting Jardio, the driver sped off. Upon reaching Carpenter’s Bridge, he hit another motorcycle carrying Tupaz, Ricforte, and Sanz. The three were flung off the bridge.
