Four Wins for Philippines in 27th World Travel Awards

The Department of Tourism announced that the country has bagged four awards in the 27th World Travel Awards. The country has been given recognition for its tourism achievements: Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, Asia’s Leading Tourist Board, Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, and Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction: Intramuros.

“We are truly honored and thankful for the accolades given to the Philippines at the 2020 World Travel Awards Asia. These recognitions are certainly an inspiration to the industry as we safely and gradually reopen our destinations for tourism,” states Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat in an article by Manila Bulletin.

“These would not be possible without the combined efforts from our tourism stakeholders, local government units, partner agencies, and our fellow Filipinos who have tirelessly promoted our country’s attractions, products and culture,” she added.

The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Since the awards body has been spawned 26 years ago, it has been making steady and significant impact, taking the lead on one of the most important aspects of travel and tourism.
