The Iloilo City Government, in a Facebook post, announced that senior citizens can enjoy free movies every Tuesday within the vicinity. The City Council has amended the ordinance establishing guidelines that will allow free movie admissions to senior citizens at movie houses, cinemas, and theaters.
Ordinance author Irene Ong stated that the elderly shall be accommodated only ‘upon presentation of the specially designed movie pass together with the Senior Citizen’s Identification Card or similar ID’. Also, the post also noted that free access shall be available in the first week of the screening. Moreover, it will also be available in the second week of the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival. Furthermore, the free movie pass is not available during special and regular holidays, and not applicable to premium and 3D movies.
The City of Love has been upgrading benefits for the elderly. It can be recalled that the Sangguniang Panglungsod approved the amended version of Regulation Ordinance 2017 – 053, otherwise known as the Ilonggo Centenarian Ordinance wherein benefits and privileges are given when a resident hits 100 years old. Under the amended version, the elderly reaching the age of 80 is entitled to Php 10,000 – Php 20,000 to 90 elderly reaching 90 years old, and Php 50,000 to elderly reaching 100 years old.
