Gugma, an Ilonggo film, is a story of love, tragedy, and hope set in the turbulent first months of the spread of Covid 19 – and is set to premiere on September 25, 2020, 8 pm PHT, via @DailyGuardianPH. It is a production of Iloilo Live Events Alliance in association with J.S. Layson, Co., Inc. and in cooperation with Daily Guardian, More Power, Hotel del Rio, Xane Media Group, Helicam Philippines, ACM Homes, Medicus Medical Center and Medicus Cancer Institute.
About Gugma. Gugma is a collaborative film by the media production, video and photography sector of ILEA for the benefit of the Western Visayas Medical Center COVID ER and displaced event sector members.
Synopsis: A love story set in the turbulent first months of the spread of the Corona Virus Pandemic. Ryan, a nurse by day and a musician by night proposes to Marie, his girlfriend of five years, just before the city of Iloilo goes into lockdown. Their love is tested to its limits as the world around them changes for the worst. Marie is left to herself, isolated and alone, as Ryan is locked to his duties as a medical frontliner. Stress and frustration get the better of Ryan and takes it out on Marie. Worse still, the couple is met with tragedy as Marie is infected with the Corona Virus. With time stacked against them, Marie and Ryan are faced with a difficult decision that will forever change their relationship.
