Iloilo Hailed 18th Best Airport in Asia: The Iloilo International Airport was hailed 18th best airport in Asia in a recent survey by the travel website, Sleeping in Airports. Mactan Cebu International Airport was also included in the list and ranked 16th. The survey asked pollers to rank airports based on the following: comfort, services, food, security, customer service, ease of transit, cleanliness, and ‘sleepability’.
The Sleeping in Airports website narrated the qualities of top-performing airports: “top airports have a lot in common: plenty of seating, rest areas, a good amount of food options, helpful staff and efficient check-in, and security procedures. Some airports go above and beyond with perks like in-terminal movie theatres and gardens.”
“We expect that more Philippine airports will be included (on the list) next year. The survey for the 2019 list was done until September. We have airports that were built just recently,” states Eric Apolonio, Spokeperson of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, in an article by the Philippine News Agency.
Sleeping in Airport is a website detailing airport guides, hotels, and lounges, and provides reviews of various airports. The website has also spawned a ‘best and worst airports of 2019’ list. Moreover, the website has been mentioned in a number of international publications such as USA Today, Time, Reuters, The New York Times, CNN, and CNBC to mention a few.
The website lauded the top airport, Singapore’s Changi Airport. The website praised the airport as having ‘spacious terminals, friendly staff, and clean facilities’. Meanwhile, it also mentioned the worst airport – Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport described as having ‘filthy bathrooms, arrogant staff, and disorganized’.
Other airports on the top list include Seoul Incheon Airport, Tokyo Narita Airport, Osaka Kansai Airport, Taipei Taoyuan Airport, Hong Kong Airport, Kuala Lumpur Airport, New Delhi Airport, Jakarta Airport, Tokyo Haneda Airport, Mumbai Airport, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangalore Airport, Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat Airport, Hyderabad Airport, Da Nang Airport, Islamabad Airport, and Kunming Airport.
