Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas extends the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Iloilo City until May 15 – as seen in a post by the Iloilo City Government on social media. The province is included in the comprehensive list (Resolution 29, Series of 2020) of regions/provinces/areas to go on ECQ as advised by the Inter-Agency Task Force.
“I am extending the implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Iloilo City until May 15, 2020. We got a confirmation from Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque that we are included in the list released this afternoon being part of the whole Iloilo province. As such, we are waiting for the additional guidelines from the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 (IATF) as they are the ones on top of this situation,” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.
It can be recalled that the Enhanced Community Quarantine began last March 20 in Iloilo City and is originally scheduled to be lifted middle of April and was extended to April 30th. This is the second time the ECQ has been extended.
“We welcome this new development, and we are supportive of the moves of the national government in order to better protect our people from the deadly virus. Rest assured that in our part, we are doing everything we can to help each and every Ilonggo affected by this health crisis, protecting our frontliners, observing necessary protocols, and giving inspiration to those who need it during these challenging times. Bato, Iloilo!,”Treñas adds.
