After almost 40 days of Iloilo City under Enhanced Community Quarantine, the City Government is looking forward to its lifting on May 1st. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas recently met with economic and security teams to discuss preparations for the opening of businesses after the ECQ is lifted.
According to Treñas, their direction is to open on May 1. Moreover, he also added that the lifting would depend on the results of the rapid tests and that the test kits would be fully used by May 1. The testing will be done at random among members of the local police, media, frontliners, and so on.
He also added that once businesses will be open, protocols should still be observed. Moreover, curfew hours (from 8pm to 5am next day) may be shortened, and quarantine pass may be relaxed but border restrictions should still be in place. Wearing of masks is still mandatory, and mass gatherings (including classes) will not be allowed.
Once again, the mayor calls for the public’s cooperation as the city adjusts to the ‘new normal’.
