After more than a month of enhanced community quarantine, the City of Love may reopen on May 1. However, the lack of cooperation may delay the reopening. The ‘lockdown’ started on March 20 and is originally scheduled to be lifted on April 14 but extended until April 30.
“Kon may mga cases naman kita or transmission, ano pag abri ta? Ang akon lang ginapangayo kooperasyon because we have to open already. Naluoy ako sa mga pumoluyo ta nga waay trabaho,” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, in an article published by Panay News.
Moreover, the City Mayor pleaded for Ilonggos to cooperate with the guidelines while the city is still under enhanced community quarantine. He also added that the City Government will do everything to ensure the safety of its constituents.
As of April 14, Iloilo City has recorded five COVID-19 confirmed cases – one of which has fully recovered while two remain in the hospital and one in quarantine at home. Unfortunately, one confirmed case expired.
