In a social media post by Super Radyo (DYSI 1323), it was reported that the Iloilo City Government, headed by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, will be issuing an Executive Order lifting the imposed liquor ban today.
“Natalana nga magpagwa sang Executive Order subong nga adlaw (Abril 21) si Mayor Jerry Treñas nga naga-lift ukon nagabawi na sang pagdumili sang pagbaligya kag pagbakal sang makahulubog nga ilimnon sa mga balaligyaan sa syudad,”excerpt from the social media post of Super Radyo (DYSI 1323).
In a press conference, the mayor expressed that he finds no reason why the liquor ban should not be lifted as long as drinking should be done within the household and not in a public area. He also added that drinking should be ‘in moderation’ only.
It can be recalled that the imposed liquor ban was first included in Executive Order 055, the first EO mandating the enhanced community quarantine in Iloilo City. It was indicated that selling, dispensing, and transporting liquor or alcoholic beverages is prohibited.
