Much anticipated Paraw Regatta was recently postponed by the Iloilo City Government, as a precautionary measure to the recent 2019 nCoV worldwide outbreak. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas announced the postponement last Wednesday, after consultation with the Department of Health, City Health Office, Iloilo Festivals Foundation, and the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Foundation.
“Just to be sure, since we are after our constituents (health), especially those who are more prone to get this coronavirus, we decided to postpone all activities for the Paraw Regatta,” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, in an article by the Philippine News Agency.
Moreover, Treñas stated that they will yet decide if they will still hold the festival in March if the weather is favorable. In addition, the Department of Education also produced its own advisory stating that there will be no major events of school children for the entire month of February.
