COVID Vaccine Iloilo: Iloilo city and province recently signed multilateral agreements to purchase vaccines against COVID-19. In an article published by the Philippine Information Agency, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that the signing of the agreement was made possible due to the support of the national government via Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez and Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III. Moreover, Treñas reveals that he signed the agreement to purchase AstraZeneca vaccines.
The mayor added that the signing would be part of history for the Ilonggos as the vaccine will save lives. The local government will purchase 600,000 doses for a total purchase price of USD 3,000,000.
Furthermore, the province is also among the first government units to secure an agreement. Iloilo Government Arthur Defensor, Jr. signed the multilateral agreement on behalf of the province for the purchase of AZF1222.
The agreement was signed by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines, Inc. represented by country president Lotis Ramin, the national government by Secretary Galvez and Secretary Duque, and the provincial government.
