The City of Love was hailed 8th safest in Southeast Asia, in a survey by Numbeo. Included in the list of Southeast Asia’s safest were Chiang Mai in Thailand, Singapore, Hanoi in Vietnam, Penang in Malaysia, Bangkok in Thailand, and Bali in Indonesia. Some Philippine cities were also included in the list: Davao, Makati, and Cebu.
Numbeo is an online survey site that enlists living conditions in various countries. The website is cited as a reliable source, and data has been used by international magazines like BBC, Time, The Week, Forbes, The Economist, Business Insider, New York Times, and The Washington Post, to mention a few. Moreover, Numbeo is known as the ‘world’s largest database of user-contributed data worldwide’.
In lieu, the City Government is elated to know that Iloilo City ranked as such. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treňas cites that the inclusion of Iloilo City in the poll can be used as baseline data in the promotion of tourism. It can also invite investment opportunities to the city.
Treňas further thrusts the city’s security. It can be recalled that the City Mayor awarded a Certificate of Recognition to Iloilo City Police Office Director Colonel Martin Defensor for the office’s recognition as ‘Outstanding City Police Office of the Year’ in the field of Police Community Relations during the culmination of the 24th Police Community Relations Month in Camp Crame in Quezon, last July.
Moreover, the Iloilo City Police Office was also lauded for its proficiency in implementing the PNP Patrol Plan 2030 for a high-capable and credible police service. Read more: Iloilo City 8th Safest in Southeast Asia.
