Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, one separate occasion, mentioned that Iloilo City will be placed under Modified General Community Quarantine starting September 01, 2020 and will last until the 30th of the same month. Moreover, Treñas has been in nonstop meetings to discuss the preparations for the MGCQ transition.
“I had a meeting with the COVID Team and COVID Task Force to inform them that the status of the city shall be under MGCQ starting September 1-30, 2020 and must prepare on the changes of the quarantine status. We have also discussed the changes of the protocols for our returning LSIs and our preparations for the testing and quarantine facilities. As numbers continue to rise, we discussed possible solutions to the concerns of the team with regard to COVID-19 operations. “I hope that even if they will downgrade our status, we will still continue to be viligant and follow proper protocols for our own safety and our family’s. Let us protect ourselves so that we can protect our families. Follow social distancing in crowded areas, use face masks, wash your hands frequently, and stay at home as much as possible. Your safety is on top of my priority, so please help me so I can protect all of you,” announced Treñas in a separate social media post.
According to Treñas, in a post dated August 28, the city has 296 active cases from local transmission and 27 from LSI/ROF/APOR. Moreover, region-wide, the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development recorded 1,948 active cases.
