Iloilo Fishing Port to Remain Closed

In an update, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas announces that the Iloilo Fishing Port shall remain closed until it has sufficient compliance officers on its own. Moreover, Treñas will not allow fishing boats to dock and sell fish at Muelle Loney.

“The Iloilo Fishing Port will remain closed until they have sufficient compliance officers on their own since there was no observance of the guidelines. We cannot anymore allow fishing boats to dock and sell fish at Muelle Loney. Sa tiun sang pandemya, magbuligay kita para mapadasig ang pagtapna sang virus. Bato Iloilo,” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas in a social media post.

“It is entirely wrong for their management to say that the number of cases increased because of the number of compliance officers of the city. Therefore, for as long as the management of the fishing port cannot show to us that they will have sufficient compliance officers of their own and that all medical protocols will be followed aside from daily disinfection, it will remain closed,” Treñas adds.

It may be recalled that there had been several positive cases recorded from the fishing port. In an August 07 update, a total of 84 cases have been recorded.
