Just recently, the Iloilo Provincial Government was lauded as ‘Best Local Government Unit Advocate for Statistics’. The recognition was given during the 30th National Statistics Month by the Philippine Statistics last October 29 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Assembly Hall in Manila.
The province was cited for its successful conduct of statistical advocacy from January to December 2018. The entry document provided statistical information led by the Provincial Population Office and the Provincial Planning and Development Office.
“Our work starts with statistics. This is to remind us all that in our work, we should be mindful of numbers,” states Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr, in an article by Sun Star. The plaque was given to the Iloilo Governor during the flag ceremony last November 4.
It can be recalled that the City of Iloilo reigned victorious during Regional Search for the 2019 Kaunlarang Pantao or the Rafael M. Salas Population Development Award. The city won three awards namely: Most Outstanding City Population Office; Most Outstanding City Population Officer, Mary Ann A. Ramos; and Most Outstanding Barangay Population Volunteer, Luzviminda Francisco, best contenders in Western Visayas.
