Just recently, the Iloilo City Government announced via Facebook that the 48th Iloilo Paraw Festival 2020 is set to happen on April 1 to 5. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas met with organizers to reset the staging of the event which was initially scheduled February 23 to March 1.
It can be recalled that major events have been postponed due to the recent Coronavirus scare.
“We postponed the Paraw Regatta Festival due to the risks brought by the COVID-19. But earlier today, I had a meeting with the festival organizers, and I am happy to announce that the Paraw Regatta Festival will resume on April 1 to 5, 2020,”states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, in a Facebook post.
It can also be recalled that Treñas made a statement encouraging the organizers of the event to ‘level up’ the Paraw Regatta Festival this 2020: “We want Paraw Regatta celebration to also level up in the same Dinagyang 2020 has leveled-up,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas in an earlier statement. The festival will highlight the longest sailing event in Asia. The 48th Paraw Regatta Festival has been sealed with a memorandum of agreement among the Iloilo City Government, Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc., and the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Iloilo.
