The Iloilo Provincial Board has recently approved an appropriation ordinance granting the province to use Php 270 million for its response against COVID-19. Provincial Ordinance 1-2020 was passed by the Provincial Board in a special session requested by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr.
Moreover, Fourth District Board Member Rolando Chura, chair of the disaster risk reduction and management committee, announced that the fund will be realigned to focus on four areas in the COVID-19 response.
“The total amount is PHP270,111,458 which will be used in four activities,” states Fourth District Board Member Rolando Chura, in an article published by the Philippine News Agency. The breakdown is as follows:
- Php 55.6 million for purchase of medicine and other medical supplies
- Php 1.5 million for petroleum, oil, and lubricants for mobility
- Php 27 million for food and other assistance
- Php 185 million for assistance to 43 local government units
“The aid will be proportionate not on the number of villages per local government unit, but per the number of households,” adds Distura.
