Just recently, the Iloilo City Government has generated a surplus of Php 400 million. According to Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, the surplus is a result of good financial management last year.
“I would like to thank our department heads and employees because of austerity and prudent measures they have put in place that resulted to big savings,” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, in a post by the Iloilo City Government.
Treñas also revealed that the savings will go into programs and projects that will benefit the residents of Iloilo. The intended programs and projects include the implementation of infrastructure, programs, and salary standardization law (SSL5) increase of City Hall’s regular employees.
It can also be recalled that the City of Love is one of the passers of the Department of Interior and Local Government’s 2019 Good Financial Housekeeping. The GFH, formerly known as the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH), refers to the compliance of the local government unit with accounting and auditing standards. It is one of the six area assessments of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
