Just recently, the Iloilo Provincial Population Office was awarded the Most Outstanding Population Office in the country. A plaque of recognition, together with a cash prize of Php 300,000, was given by the Commission on Population and Development last December 12 in Pasig City.
The said office was recognized for its effective organizational structure serving 42 municipalities and a component city composed of 2,365 volunteer Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) in 1,721 barangays in the province. To date, the Provincial Population Office is one of the most active offices at the Iloilo Provincial Government.
By far, the office has actively implemented the Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning Program as well as the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program, according to Provincial Population Office Chief Ramon Yee, in an article by the Philippine News Agency. Moreover, the same office has also conducted the search for the Best Managed Population Data Bank and Best Statistical Data Board in various municipalities.
Provincial Population Office Chief Ramon Yee was also hailed the second placer to the Most Outstanding Provincial Population Officer in Western Visayas.
