Jins from Calinog dominate the National Taekwondo Championships. Calinog’s very own Felix Ace Perez was hailed as the top jin in his weight category after winning the gold medal in the recently concluded ‘Best of the Best National Taekwondo Championships’ held in Ayala Malls, Manila. He is the reigning gold medalist from the 2018 best of the best championships.
Angel Grace Cerbas, meanwhile, also won a gold medal. Cerbas was also the gold medalist in the Batang Pinoy National Finals in Puerto Princesa. The Silver Medal was won by Clarc James Salvador.
Quarter finalists include Anton John Palmes, Ferry Carmel Perez who won the Gold in the 2019 Batang Pinoy National Finals in Puerto Princesa, and Gregmay Yanna Peñalosa. The champion jins train at the Calinog Taekwondo Gym in Calinog of Iloilo headed by Coach Louis Paul Nobleza, a taekwondo 2nd Dan Black Belt, head instructor.
Ace Perez, Clarc James Salvador and Anton John Palmes are students of Calinog Elementary School. Gregmay Peñalosa and Angel Grace Cerbas, meanwhile, are NCHS Calinog students, and Feri Carmel Perez is in 7th grade at Mary Immaculate Academy in Calinog.
