Just recently, renowned Architect Paulo Alcazaren revealed the perspectives of Arevalo, Lapaz, and Molo district plazas in line with the planned redevelopment of the plazas in Iloilo. The perspectives were presented to Iloilo City Hall officials.
It can be recalled that Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has requested the Department of Tourism for allocation of funds for the rehabilitation of district plaza, through DOT’s infrastructure arm.
“TIEZA made sure that the Province of Iloilo will have our steadfast support in terms of tourism infrastructure development, and has allocated a total of PHP 340.7 million for this purpose,” states Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat, in an article by the Philippine News Agency.
Moreover, the Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat assured that the agency will continue to support Iloilo’s tourism industry through a Php 340.7 million fund for infrastructure requirements via the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
“I am happy to announce the good news that the TIEZA Board recently approved the allocation of P135-million which will be utilized for the restoration of three renowned landmarks,” states Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, as seen in the post published by the Iloilo City Government.
Out of the total amount, Php 65 million will be allocated for Lapaz Plaza redevelopment, Php 35 million for Arevalo, and another Php 35 million for Molo. Also included in the initiative is the rehabilitation of the Jaro Belfry, the construction of a Tourism Information Center and Tourist Rest Area and Green Restroom in Esplanade 3, improvement of the Iloilo Convention Center, and the further development of Sunburst Park.
