District of Lapuz Iloilo. Lapuz is one of the seven district of Iloilo City and by far the smallest by land area and population. It is home to the Iloilo International Port Complex as well as the Iloilo Fastcraft and Roro Terminal.

Lapuz acquired its name from the Hiligaynon word ‘lapus’ or ‘to pass through’ because of its location. Prior to becoming a district, Lapuz was part of Lapaz (since it became a town during the Spanish regime). Lapuz became a district on December 17, 2008 after the Sangguniang Panglungsod (City Council) passed a resolution.
