Love Box: A Box Full Of Love

Hello love! I have not been to London but I heard from peers that they are one of the most polite people in the world. Way back when I was working in the Middle East, I made a phone call to the United Kingdom. Back in the Philippines or in my experience, whenever we give our numbers, we just give it as it is. “Oh, love, do you have a pen with you?” – the lady I was calling asked me. She gave me another number to call, slowly repeating it to make sure I jot it all down. She was so polite. And for a brief moment, it felt like her candor was contagious.

One of my favorite shops in Iloilo is Mrs Wharton London Bakes and English Teas – sometimes, I visit the place whenever I miss their Red Velvet Cake or cheesecakes. When it comes to cheesecake, I usually choose Creme Brulee, but I am very open to try something new. And just recently, I discovered Monte Cristo – two pairs of thick french toasts with ham and cream cheese in between. To further magnify the flavor, the toasts are dusted with confectioners’ sugar. I will definitely come back for it. Read more: From London to Iloilo: Mrs Wharton London Bakes and English Teas

One of the highlights at Mrs Wharton is the Love Box. It is named as is because of the British people’s usage of the word ‘love’, as in ‘hi, love’. It is a box with four (4) cupcakes but can be substituted with their other available pastries. The usual contents include Apple Cinnamon, Red Velvet, Vegan, and Chocolate Ganache. What is actually exciting about the Love Box is that all cupcakes are unique. You couldn’t say that the Chocolcate Ganache tastes the same as Vegan – the two are unique from each other.

The Love Box is like taking home a variety of mini-cakes. At Php 150, it is a good buy. Imagine having a taste of everything at Php 150 (sometimes the price of one single slice of cake). What’s also good at Mrs Wharton is the strategic location of the shop – at SM Southpoint. SM Southpoint is an easy-breezy area located south (judging from the word Southpoint) of SM City Iloilo. Al fresco and with a grass field, sometimes with acoustic music, everything slows down at SM Southpoint complimenting the laid-back nature of Ilonggos.

And Mrs Wharton is the perfect place to enjoy sweet treats. Sofa seats, interesting interiors, and a definite British vibe – add in soft music – you will definitely be able to enjoy a laid-back morning, afternoon, or evening at Mrs Wharton. Kindly note that aside from sweets, the shop also serves the likes of Lasagna, Croque Madame, and other savory. Mrs Wharton London Bakes and English Tea is located at SM Southpoint, SM City Iloilo.
