Malls, Public Places Temporarily Closed in Iloilo City

In light of the recent Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19 outbreak in the country), malls and public areas in Iloilo City are temporarily closed to support the government’s efforts in breaking the chain of transmission through an enhanced community quarantine. It can be recalled that Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Executive Order 055, putting Iloilo under an enhanced community quarantine, also known as ‘lockdown’.

SM City Iloilo. “In support of the government’s efforts to fight against the spread of COVID-19, SM City Iloilo will be temporarily closed starting March 19, 2020, until further notice. However, establishments offering basic necessities and select restaurants will remain open,” in a statement posted by SM City Iloilo on social media. However, select establishments such as the SM Supermarket, Bills Payment, BDO, LBC, to mention a few will remain open with reduced operating hours.

Festive Walk Iloilo. “In support of the preventive measures and directives of local authorities and enhanced community quarantine, Festive Walk Iloilo will be closed temporarily beginning March 20 until further notice,” in an advisory posted on social media by Festive Walk Iloilo. Moreover, the mall also advised that the following will remain open: supermarkets, pharmacies, and medical services, convenience stores, banks, select restaurants with takeout and deliveries, and other essentials will remain open.

Robinsons Place Iloilo. “All Robinsons Malls in the Visayas will be temporarily closed effective March 20, 2020, until further notice. The following establishments offering basic necessities may continue to be open in order to serve the public: supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, hardware stores, convenience stores, select restaurants with takeout and delivery services, and other essentials,” in a social media post of Robinsons Place Iloilo.

Shops at Atria, Ayala Mall. “In compliance with government directives on enhanced community quarantine, and in the interest of health and safety, Shops at Atria will be temporarily closed for operation effective March 20, 2020, until further notice. However, in order to continue servicing the community, establishments offering basic services shall be kept open, such as supermarkets, drugstores, banks, and other essentials,” in an advisory on social media by Shops at Atria, Ayala Mall.

Marymart Center. “In our effort to heed the call to stay at home and keep safe, Marymart Center will be temporarily closed from March 20 to April 15. Streetside restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, and banks shall remain open subject to government regulations,” in a social media post by Marymart Center

Iloilo Convention Center. “Iloilo Convention Center (ICON) in Megaworld Iloilo Business Park is committed to taking precautions for the health and safety of valued guests and partners. Starting March 18, the state of the art venue is temporarily suspending its operations until further notice,” in an advisory published on social media.

Iloilo River Esplanade and Plazas. In a social media post by the Iloilo City Government, the Esplanade and Plazas are closed to the public. “This is to avoid the possibility of non-compliance to social distancing,” in a social media post by the Iloilo City Government as per the advice of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.
