Managat Festival: ‘Who wouldn’t love Managat’. In a recent get-together with a family member from the states, Managat was amongst the first that we have to – MUST – look for. It is one of the preliminary cravings of Ilonggos – especially if they have been away from the country for a long time. Managat Fish, known as Red Snapper or Mangrove Jack, is a species of the snapper fish, a commercially important and sought-after game fish.
Over the years, and from my observation, Managat has become Iloilo’s prime seafood delicacy.
Thus, in order to highlight Managat’s gastronomic relevance to the Ilonggo community, Seda Atria held ‘Managat Festival’, a festival of flavors and culinary variety to the popular Managat dish. It features the following choices: Pan Seared Managat, Pan Fried Managat, Pan Grilled Managat, Charcoal Grilled Managat, Crispy Managat, Sweet and Sour Managat, Asian Hot and Sour Managat, and Over Baked Managat.
