Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas will be lifting the liquor ban in line with the lifting of the community quarantine on May 16. It can be recalled that as per IATF Resolution No 35, Iloilo City was recognized as a low-risk area and will no longer be under community quarantine. Other areas that were considered low-risk areas include Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and Bacolod City.
Treñas clarifies that, despite lifting the liquor ban, certain limitations will be imposed.
“Ang liquor ban i-lift pero may limitation for the next two to three weeks sa mabakal like may certain number. Indi magulpihan bala nga buy-an kay damo naga-wild,” adds Treñas.
It can be recalled that the liquor ban was previously lifted but reimposed the day after due to many alcohol-related incidents.
