The Medicus Cancer Institute, nestled along Donato Pison Avenue in San Rafael Mandurriao, takes pride in introducing the first and only linear accelerator cancer treatment facility in Western Visayas. In line with this, the institute recently inaugurated its ambulatory surgical clinic last July 31, Sunday.
The blessing and inauguration were attended by stakeholders and dignitaries Congressman Michael Gorriceta, Iloilo City Councilor Alan Zaldivar, Councilor Dr. Candice Tupas, and PhilHealth Acting Regional Vice President Ms. Janet Monteverde, to mention a few.
“Indeed, this event has truly brought us closer to our mission of bringing quality medical services closer to home, closer to Iloilo. The people of Panay island and Negros provinces would come to Iloilo for these services,” says Retired General Josephus Angan in his opening remarks during the launching. “The success of delivering public health services entails the participation of our partners both in the public and private sector,” he adds.
The Medicus Cancer Institute Ambulatory Surgical Clinic will be able to cater to outpatient surgery and radiation therapy including conventional radiation therapy, 3D conformal radiation therapy, and intensity modulated radiation therapy. Common cancers treated with radiotherapy includes breast carcinoma, cervical carcinoma, endometrial cancer, lung cancer, and rectal carcinoma, to mention a few. Moreover, the Medical Cancer Institute will be home to cancer treatment, dialysis, and condo clinics.
