Up to 15 ‘bright and fast’ meteors will be visible tonight (April 22) until dawn tomorrow (April 23). According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reveals that the Lyrid meteor shower will peak tonight.
“Although not numerous, Lyrids are bright and fast meteors. “No matter where you are on Earth, the best time to watch is between midnight and dawn,” states PAGASA, in an article by Philippine Star.
The agency reveals that the meteor shower will be visible to the naked eye and that the Lyrid meteor shower has been observed for more than 2,000 years. The Lyrid meteor shower is created by bits of debris left behind by the repeated passage through the inner solar system of comet Thatcher.
