Milk Tea in Iloilo

Milk Tea

When milk tea is life, you can’t help but include milk tea in your daily routine. When milk tea is life, you can’t help but visit your nearest suki. And when milk tea is life, like I do, can’t help but concur that it is the most awaited ‘meal’ of the day. Just kidding, I also think of fast food, chocolates, and everything else included in the human food chain. But. Man. It’s milk tea.

Since the industry continues to grow, more and more shops are being put up as a response to the growing demand. Milk tea, in all its glory, boils down to a combination of tea and milk. However, the beverage dates back centuries ago as it is the popular choice in places where the British had colonial rule. Milk tea in Asia, as tea with milk in the United Kingdom, is very common. Bubble tea, also known as boba, originated in Taiwan and is available all over the world now.

Back to Iloilo, how is the scene? It is booming. Shops are common nowadays. Yet they are always full. Common go-to shops nowadays include Sharetea, Gongcha, and recently Macao Imperial Tea – so far, those were what I tried, including MLKT. Yet there are still many shops here in Iloilo. What’s your favorite shop so far? Let me know in the comment section below.

One laudable shop is MLKT. MLKT offers Taiwanese and its variants are made with real tea leaves and flavors imported from Taiwan. The creamer and fructose are also imported. The owners of MLKT want to offer Ilonggos the real deal when it comes to the beverage – and at an affordable price! Price starts Php 50+! What is also great about MLKT is that it is ‘on wheels’ – a unique rendition of the classic shop in a nonmobile structure. MLKT on wheels can go places to serve enthusiasts right about anywhere.

  • MLKT General Luna – 12nn to 6pm
  • MLKT Cart Aurora Subd – 2:30pm to 6pm
  • MLKT Cart Jaro Plaza – 6:30pm to 9pm

As of now, operating MLKT branches in Iloilo are within proximity of the University of San Agustin, St Pauls University, and Jaro. Out-of-town branches include Miagao, Estancia, and Antique. The sole out of Panay branch is in Bulacan. Soon to open branches will be in Villa, Oton, Plaza Libertad, Barotac Nuevo, Pavia, Calinog, Tigbauan, Kalibo, Bacolod City, and Manila. For more information about MLKT, visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MLKTIloilo or follow them on Instagram www.instagram.com/mlkt_ph.
