Iloilo City recently received twenty (20) handwashing stations from Metro Iloilo Pacific Water, a joint venture company of Metro Pacific Water (MPW) and Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD). The initiative aspires to provide communities further access to clean water and sanitation, especially in the barangays, health centers, and public markets.
To complement this is the ‘Tatap Ilonggo Awareness Campaign’, information, education, and communication (IEC) lecture series that will be administered to barangays and schools to raise awareness on water conservation, sanitation, and the importance of handwashing.
Moreover, Tatap Ilonggo also intends to provide water to low-pressure areas and LGU beneficiaries via the deployment of water tanker trunks. Target areas also include quarantine facilities. Read: Handwashing Important in Fighting Covid-19
“We declare our unwavering support to the City of Iloilo by providing communities with clean and safe water. We will also continue to ensure reliable water supply by deploying water tankers, installing water supply stations in quarantine facilities and various billeting centers for COVID-19 front liners, and putting up handwashing facilities in public markets and schools with proper handwashing infographics,” states MPIW COO Ben Mañosca.
