Nine repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers who arrive yesterday tested positive in the Rapid Test. It can be recalled that stranded OFWs arrived in Iloilo and Bacolod ports yesterday morning, April 29.
“Nine (9) OFWs who arrived here yesterday were tested positive in the Rapid Test. These included seven (7) from Iloilo City and two (2) from Guimaras. We are still waiting for their confirmatory PCR tests. There are a total of 35 OFWs from the city and five (5) from Guimaras, who are now on quarantine at a hotel, while waiting for their PCR test results. We have put in place proper protocols for health and safety in close coordination with the hotel management,” states Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.
According to the Department of Health, Rapid Test is not conclusive and still considers RT-PCR as the ‘gold standard’ of testing for the dreaded coronavirus.
