OFWs in Iraq Prepared to Evacuate

Overseas Filipino Workers in Iraq are being prepared to evacuate following an incident in the region. It can be recalled that a US airstrike landed in Baghdad, Iraq by order of US President Donald Trump. The airstrike killed Major General Qassem Soleimani, leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force.

In line with this, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei vowed to strike back.

Department of Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Ed Menez appeals to all Overseas Filipino Workers in Iraq to coordinate with the Philippine Embassy in Baghdad and with their respective employers in the event the situation will worsen in the country. To date, the area is under Crisis Alert 3 and all OFWs advised to evacuate. Menez also adds that there will be a Rapid Response Team available.
