Patients Under Investigation for nCoV now 105 in PH


As of February 04, the Department of Health released a situation report on the novel coronavirus. To date, there are now a total of 105 patients under investigation. The report also revealed that regions with new ‘patients under investigation’ cases.

The regions with new ‘patients under investigation’ include the following – 1 in CAR, 4 in CALABARZON, 1 in Central Luzon, 9 in NCR, 2 in Western Visayas, 5 in Central Visayas, 2 in Eastern Visayas, and 1 in Davao. The department also notes that ‘the substantial increase in the number of PUIs is due to the strengthened surveillance system and contact tracing of the Epidemiology Bureau and the expansion of PUI category to the whole of China.

Moreover, the department also revealed that the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has met with President Rodrigo Duterte, together with other government agencies and resource persons, and discussed measures on the management of 2019-nCoV ARD in the country.

The department also assures the public that patients under investigation are currently admitted and isolated. Moreover, stricter infection control measures are being implemented. Moreover, DOH is in coordination with the Bureau of Quarantine in conducting contact tracing.
