The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) brings back the ‘Christmas Parol of Hope’, bringing back hope amid unfortunate events that happened this year. In a social media post, PPCI revealed that the parols will bear the colors of the Philippine flag – symbolizing the call for patriotism and unity during challenging times.
“In the midst of the pandemic, PCCI Iloilo, in support of the Iloilo City Government, brings back the Ilonggo Christmas Parol of Hope. These lanterns will once again light up the major thoroughfares of Iloilo City. Receiving accolades last year, the Parols will once again bring back the spirit of joy, happiness, love and hope for all Ilonggos,”excerpts from the social media post of PCCI.
Moreover, persons deprived of liberty from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology will once again work on the lanterns – it will also be an added livelihood to the inmates.
“Bearing the national colors of our flag, the Parols will symbolize the call for patriotism and unity during these challenging times. The persons deprived of liberty at the BJMP will once again work on these lanterns giving them livelihood at this crucial time. More importantly, as Christmas is the time for sharing and giving, these lanterns will be shining examples of giving light to lives,” the post adds.
PCCI Iloilo intends to reuse, recycle, and refurbish some of its old lanterns from last year. Moreover, target areas for these lanterns will be Diversion Road, General Luna St. and Calle Real.
