
PCPC Power Plant now 100% Filipino operated, maintained: The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) 135-Megawatt Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion Power Plant is now managed by an all-Filipino team.
The First Northeast Electric Power Engineering Corp. (NEPC) turned over the O&M to PCPC in a ceremonial passing of a key of responsibility on August 16, 2021, at the PCPC Executive Guest House in Concepcion. NEPC, which is affiliated with China Energy Engineering Corporation, is likewise PCPC’s contractor for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction of the power plant.
Mr. Rene Marlon Castigador, the new PCPC Plant Manager accepted the ceremonial key which symbolizes “the commitment to achieve an optimum and sound performance for the power plant.” The turnover also coincided with the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the commercial operation of the PCPC Power Plant.
Despite the onset of the pandemic, PCPC operations department continuously placed and trained people who will be a part of the all-Filipino O&M Team. Immersions, technical training, and interfacing with Chinese counterparts were done by the employees to ensure their readiness for the actual operations. “We have been through a lot, including this long-running pandemic we have to deal with alongside the daily grind of operating the plant. But I am very proud of how we at PCPC all adapted and evolved, and rose to the challenge even in the face of adversity,” Mr. Nicandro R. Fucoy, PCPC President and CEO said.
Also virtually present during the event were PCPC owners and the Board of Directors.
