There’s nothing like awesome ‘mama mia’ Pizzeria like Pizzaro. What makes a nice Pizzeria anyway? Well, one, it has to be accessible. Pizzaro is one of the most accessible, not to mention leading pizzerias in Iloilo City. It has branches in Jalandoni Street, E Lopez Street, The Shops at Atria Park District, and at the Festive Walk Parade at Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao. Two, the range of pizza flavors should be as diverse as the taste buds of the finicky Ilonggo eater. Three, the serving should be as gargantuan as if it is served for titanic gods. Not that we’re big eaters, it’s just pizza is best eaten with friends – and Pizzaro’s Super Gang is a crowd favorite with 30 slices. Experience the original famous hand tossed pizza – with extremely loaded toppings.
The History of Pizza, as seen on the walls of Pizzaro: The word ‘Pizza’ came from the Italian word ‘Apiza’ meaning ‘to burn’. It was being done on different regions of Italy since Rome was on its infancy. Some thought it originated from the town Pisa, but it didn’t. The first one’s made were found with marks due to the wood fire ovens that were used. Its temperature would reach 700°C and pizza were done in seconds or so. The most popular pizza of all is Pizza Marguerite or Neopolitan conceived by an Italian cook and baker to impress the Queen of Italy, they topped it with three simple ingredients namely; tomatoes, basil and cheese.
At Pizzaro, it’s always a pizza party! Pizzaro offers its signature Special Pizza (Kevin’s Favorite | Greekizza | Casa Alfredo | All Meat | The Works | Garlic and Cheese) as well as Classic Pizza (Neopolitan | Hawaiian | Pepperoni | Four Cheese | Ham and Cheese | Vegetarian).
Aside from pizza, Pizzaro also offers Pasta Meals (with choice of Bolognese, Marinara, Cheddar and Cream, or Ham and Mushroom) and Unlimited Rice Meals (Chicken Combo | Salisbury Steak Combo | Pork Ribs Combo | Chicken and Ribs Combo). Shareables: Roasted Chicken Whole at Php 295 | Fried Roast Chicken Basket, Wings at Php 325 | Mozarella Sticks with White Sauce Dip at Php 175 | Duo Sticks (Mozarella and Potato) at Php 175 | Chicken and Potato Basket at Php 395.
Here is something that caught my attention for the thrifty: Affordable Meals with Free Ice Tea, All In at Php 65: Hotsilog | Cornsilog | Tosilog | Chosilog | Hamsilog | Baconsilog | Tapsilog | Fried Chicken.
Pizzaro has several locations but our personal favorite is at the Festive Walk Parade at the Iloilo Business Park.
About Festive Walk Parade: Festive Walk Parade is a 1.1 km strip divided into four phases. The longest shopping and dining strip in Iloilo will showcase legendary Ilonggo restaurants as well as international dining brands. The exterior design of Festive Walk Parade is reminiscent of Santana Row development in California, with touches of art nouveau as homage to Iloilo’s own architectural heritage, creating a strong sense of nostalgia while keeping an intimate atmosphere and experience through scale and proportions.
The edge of Festive Walk Parade will be Casa Emperador which will house the Casa Emperador Museum on its 2nd and 3rd floor. The museum will showcase the rich history and vast collection of one of the world’s biggest brandy producer, Emperador Distillers Inc. Casa Emperador echoes Iloilo’s very own Provincial Capitol with impressive neoclassical design and proportions, evoking the aesthetics of old European palaces,, imposing monumentality and establishing a solid focal point along Mandurriao Road.
The alfresco dining on the 2nd floor will overlook the beautifully landscaped Park Square where a monument of Ilonggo revolutionary hero, General Martin Delgado will stand – reminiscent of Iloilo’s Plaza Libertad. Festive Walk Parade will serve as a cultural and historical manifesto for Iloilo, a celebration of its heritage and future, establishing a place of economic and civic vibrancy, life and activity.
