In an article by Manila Bulletin, it revealed that Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) President and Chief Executive Office (CEO) Ricardo Morales is set to submit his resignation letter today, August 26. In an interview with DZMM Teleradyo last Wednesday, Morales announced his intentions.
“Ngayong umaga I have to file it, so that merong hard copy. Nagpapasalamat na rin ako sa Pangulo at pinayagan nya ako magpahinga. Ngayon maaatupag ko na ang aking kalusugan at ang aking pamilya. Malaking pasasalamat ko sa Pangulo natin. He never wavered in his confidence in me and I’m so humbled,” states PhilHealth President and CEO Ricardo Morales.
Morales has been diagnosed with lymphoma and currently undergoes chemotherapy. However, he assured that he will still cooperate with the ongoing investigation. It may be recalled that PhilHealth, along with its executives, is under fire following fraudulent activities as revealed by whistleblower and anti-fraud legal officer Thorrson Montes Keith.
Keith claims that PhilHealth has lost billions to ‘fraudulent schemes’.
“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin naman ang imbestigasyon. Nagpirma ako ng bank secrecy waiver at nag-submit kami sa lifestyle check, nag-submit ako ng dokumento–yung SALN (Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth). Nagco-comply ako sa imbestigasyon ng Department of Justice,” Morales adds. Read more: PhilHealth officials quit, an article by Manila Bulletin.
