Just recently, the Iloilo City Government proposed Php 2.7 billion budget for 2020. It brought the Sangguniang Panlungsod Appropriations Committee together and the proposition is set for deliberation by the legislative body.
“It’s a conservative budget, kay indi kita segurado sang mga actual naton nga income,” states Councilor Jay Treñas, also the chairperson of the appropriations committee in an article by Panay News. Despite being labelled ‘conservative’, the proposed budget is Php 400 million higher than last year.
Treñas also revealed that city government employees will receive a 10% increase across the board per department. The increase is deemed to inspire employees to become more productive.
“We have adjusted sang sweldo sang aton mga empleyado kag may saka man nga 10 percent across the board per department para ka-function sila properly,” states Treñas. Moreover, the councilor assured that no city hall department will get zero budget.
It is also estimated that 57.21% of the proposed budget will come from local taxes whilst the remaining will be sourced from the city’s internal revenue allotment. Moreover, the budget will be spent on the mayor’s office (Php 73.7 million for personnel services and Php 590,400,957 for maintenance and other operating expenses).
